Get into the spirit of Christmas by watching a parade, seeing Santas from across the world, taking a ride in a horse-drawn buggy, or just by doing some Christmas shopping.

Many towns across the country will be celebrating this joyous holiday. 

But there is not a finer place to experience all of this than at the Christmas Traditions event in Historic St. Charles, Missouri. 

St. Charles is a quaint town on the banks of the Missouri River. 

If you are in the area during the holiday season, you really should make time to stop here.

When:

“Christmas Traditions” starts the Friday after Thanksgiving and runs through Christmas Eve, usually on Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sundays. 

Each year the website posts the particulars about the days, times, and special events that are taking place.

What:

Enjoy a myriad of activities, entertainment, and excitement in the Historic District of St. Charles.

Watch the kid’s eyes light up as they watch the parade of international Santas and then find each one later to collect their trading cards. 

The holiday figures are eager to share with you.  Hear their stories, enjoy the trading cards featuring their images, and learn a little bit about their Christmas history. 

In addition to the Santas, look for other legendary Christmas characters like Ebenezer Scrooge and the Sugar Plum Fairy.

There is something for everyone at Christmas Traditions in St. Charles in addition to the parade of Santas.

Enter the gingerbread house building contest, roast chestnuts, meet Santa’s reindeer or listen to a special reading of “The Night Before Christmas”.   

Stop in at the Katy Depot in Frontier Park to have your photo taken with Santa and check out Santa’s Cottage and TrainLand.

How about a carriage ride?  Hop aboard one of the many carriages traveling down the brick streets, or simply say to the horses and wish their drivers a Merry Christmas.

Christmas caroling is a featured attraction at the festival, with special performances on the stage. 

Characters also roam the streets singing carols.  Go ahead, join in!
